Welcome to the winter issue of our Commercial Client Newsletter. As always we aim to keep you up-to-date with a monthly round up of news.
So, did Alistair Darling's VAT cut make you rush to the shops to start your Christmas shopping early? Or did you just throw your hands in the air and spend the next few days updating accounts systems etc. to get everything changed to reflect the new 15% rate. What with that and another base rate cut, let's hope that the cuts have the desired effect in the retail sectors that will then pull through from all other sectors.
Now on to this month's news.
Legal News
Are you still having a Christmas Party for your staff? If so, we report this month on your responsibilities as an employer to make sure you do not leave yourself "exposed"!
In these tough times, the phrase "turnover is vanity, profit is sanity, cash is reality" has never been more true. True, not just from a collections perspective, but also in terms of the safety of your cash. We recently covered a story about the safety of your business cash under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. It's worth a quick scan following the link below.
Lastly, it's worth touching on a story we covered recently, where repeated minor breaches of a contract can end up with the contract being terminated, rather than the breaches being seen as "variations" through custom and practice. It's worth making sure you do not get caught in the same situation.

And finally, the Funny Bit…
Everyone knows that business cards are important as a marketing tool. But would you be brave enough to have a Super Hero business card?
Follow the link, how cool are these? I think I might be putting them on my Christmas list! I'm sure 'the underpants on the outside' look will go down with your work colleagues too!
This is our last newsletter of 2008, so season's greetings to you and yours and best wishes for 2009.
