Leading Bolton Firm Fieldings Porter Solicitors have announced that on the 31^st August 2011, they will merge with the long established Firm of Cumming Hodgkinson Dickinson which occupies neighbouring premises on Silverwell Street in the heart of Bolton.

The merger represents further sustained expansion for Fieldings Porter as they celebrate the 140^th year of their founding by Matthew Fielding, a former Mayor of Bolton.

Commenting on the merger, Senior Partner, Edward Nally commented “We have always enjoyed a good and friendly relationship with our colleagues at CHD.  When the opportunity arose to combine our Firms, it was too good to miss.  We have served Bolton and its community for 140 years, and CHD has similar history.  Combining the skills and experience of both Practices is a very potent way of improving service to our clients yet further.

We will also be joined by Robert Cumming, Roger Gillies and Keith Nightingale and we are delighted that they will stay at the Firm as Consultants.  For Robert in particular, this is a rather pleasing reflection on history.  His late father, Gordon Cumming was a Partner in Fieldings back in the 1960’s.  So in that sense in joining Fieldings Porter, he is returning to the Firm in which his father played a key part, some 50 years or so ago!”
