Celebration Day for new Partner Liz Taylor

Bolton-born Liz Taylor becomes sixth female Partner.

May Day was Celebration Day for new Partner Liz Taylor as she was officially installed as the latest in a line of 32 partners in the law firm, dating back to 1871.

Fellow Partner Peter Cunliffe said: “We are extremely happy that Liz has now joined the partnership. Liz has developed and nurtured a very skilled and successful team in the Private Client department, dealing with complex wills and probate, and her obvious leadership qualities mean she will doubtless become a very effective member of the management here.”

Liz becomes the latest female partner appointed to the partnership team since Hilary Dunn back in 1991 and whilst the current partnership now features Liz as the only female, Peter expects that to change over the coming years:

“Most of our qualified staff are women, so I dare say that Liz won’t be short of female company in the boardroom for very long.”

New partner Liz said: “I also think it’s important to show that there are some great opportunities for women to reach high level positions.”

Liz attended Rivington and Blackrod High School and studied History at University, before completing her legal education in Manchester. She joined Fieldings Porter in 2014. Now, as head of the firm’s Private Client department, Liz recognises the responsibilities that promotion to Partner brings, but remains focused on providing the high levels of professional advice and service that clients require.

“I made the decision to specialise in wills and probate because I wanted to help often vulnerable people at a vulnerable time in their lives. Today there’s a real need for quality legal advice in the area of wills and probate, since the relationships in modern families can be complex. These days if someone dies without a will, the situation can quickly become a nightmare for the inexperienced, which is why clients come to us for help. It’s this complexity which I think the banks and other new entrants into this field don’t fully appreciate.”
