Fieldings Porter are sad to announce of the death of Mr Raymond Speakman last Saturday night in Hope Hospital Salford. Recently he has not enjoyed the best of health but he has borne his illness with great fortitude. His wife Vera died last year and he is survived by his three daughters. Ray was before his retirement a consultant at Fieldings Porter for many years and was a very well known figure in the Bolton legal community. Following his retirement he continued to keep in touch with the firm and was a regular attendee at our office social functions as well as being an invaluable source of advice borne from his long years of practice.

Ray  enjoyed a long and distinguished career and was instrumental in the launch of the Bolton Hospice, of which was the inaugural Chairman and for which he was honoured with an MBE for his services.

He will be sadly missed for his charm, good humour and wisdom by us all.
