A woman has secured compensation for injuries she suffered when another car collided with hers.
The accident happened when she was driving around a traffic island. The other car veered into her lane, leading to a collision. Following the accident she went to hospital, where it was confirmed that she had suffered spinal injuries.
The accident affected her work as a carer: she had to work fewer hours, resulting in reduced earnings, and undertake less physically demanding tasks. She needed help from her family with domestic activities and incurred costs travelling to medical appointments.
The driver of the other car initially disputed liability for the accident. However, the damage to her car demonstrated that the accident had happened as she described it. Medical evidence was obtained showing that she had suffered accelerated degenerative changes to her spine.
A number of offers to settle her claim were made, and she eventually accepted an offer of £50,000.
