NEW PARTNER AT FIELDNGS PORTER - From Junior Secretary to Partner
Fieldings Porter is delighted to announce Amy Settle will become a partner of Fieldings Porter with effect from 1 April 2026.
Amy joined Fieldings Porter as a junior secretary in 2002 and immediately showed initiative, intelligence and a great work ethic. She began work assisting in the Conveyancing Department and soon qualified as a Licenced Conveyancer and became a highly skilled and valued lawyer conducting transactions in her own right. Since early in her career Amy has shown great leadership and organisational skills and these were rewarded by her appointment as an Associate and as Head of the Conveyancing Department.
We are very proud of what Amy has achieved during her time at Fieldings Porter and are delighted to welcome her into the partnership. We have absolute confidence she will be a great asset to the firm for many years to come.
Senior Partner, Fraser Young says
‘Amy's appointment as a partner serves as an example of what can be achieved at Fieldings Porter and shows there is no glass ceiling for staff who do not have legal qualifications when they join the firm’.
From Junior Secretary to Partner: A Personal Milestone at Fieldings Porter
When I joined Fieldings Porter in 2002 at the age of 18 as a Junior Secretary in the Remortgage Team, I could never have imagined the journey that lay ahead.
Like many people starting their first job, I was focused on learning, working hard and gaining experience. Two years later, I began studying with the Council of Licensed Conveyancers while continuing to work full time. In 2008, I qualified as a Licensed Conveyancer, marking the first major step.
Over the years I continued to develop both professionally and personally, building my experience within the Conveyancing Team. In 2016, I was proud to be appointed Head of Department, a role that allowed me to help shape and grow the team.
My journey hasn’t always been straightforward. In 2018, I applied for the role of Associate but was unsuccessful. At the time it was disappointing, but with encouragement from those around me, I applied again when the opportunity arose. In 2022, I was delighted to be appointed as an Associate.
Now, on 1 April 2026, I will take the next step in my career as I become a Partner at Fieldings Porter.
What makes this moment particularly meaningful to me is that I will be the firm’s first Partner who is not a Solicitor and who did not follow the traditional route of qualifying through university. Instead, I studied while working, building my career through practical experience and professional development alongside my role at the firm.
Looking back, the 18-year-old me would never have believed this was possible. My journey shows that there is more than one path into the legal profession, and that with hard work, determination and the support of great colleagues, it is possible to grow and succeed.
I feel incredibly proud to have built my career at Fieldings Porter and grateful to the people who have supported me along the way.
