£290,000 for Woman Who Developed Fibromyalgia After Car Accident

Negotiations have led to a substantial settlement being obtained for a woman who developed fibromyalgia as a result of a road traffic accident.

She was thrown back and forth when the car she was sitting in was hit by another car. She sprained her spine and suffered a soft tissue injury to her chest. She experienced pain after the accident and her symptoms worsened over the following months. She found it difficult to carry out household tasks and required help from her husband.

A claim was brought against the other driver, who admitted liability for the accident. Medical evidence was obtained and she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. An initial offer by the other driver's insurer to settle her claim for £25,000 was rejected.

Further evidence was gathered, including witness statements from her family and her employer. The insurer then made a settlement offer of £125,000, which was also rejected. After court proceedings were issued, negotiations led to a settlement of £290,000 being agreed.
