Ellie Ingleton

Where/when you studied: I studied at the University of Liverpool between 2018 and 2021, graduating with a BA in Criminology in July 2021.

Professional expertise before joining the firm: I gained experience from a number of firms in the East Midlands area prior to joining Fieldings Porter Solicitors. My most recent position developed my knowledge and expertise working in both the Magistrates’ Court and the Crown Court. I also gained experience in advising suspects detained at the Police Station.

When you joined the firm: I joined Fieldings Porter Solicitors on 15th August 2023.

Department responsibilities (within the firm): I am responsible for the preparation of cases in both the Magistrates’ Court and the Crown Court. This includes attending upon clients in the office, prisons and at court. I am also responsible for advising individuals detained at police stations, having successfully completed the Police Station Representative Accreditation Scheme in November 2022.

Areas of special legal expertise: My areas of special legal expertise are sex cases and serious violent crimes.

Committees or organisations (to support the claim of specialist legal expertise): I was previously a member of the Leicestershire Law Society and hope to join similarly appropriate committees and organisations following my recent move to Manchester.

Notable cases:
GMP v S (November 2023) – Instructed privately to assist with an ongoing Proceeds of Crime Act (2002) investigation which had led to the client's bank accounts being frozen under Section 202Z1 of this act. Following detailed representations with the supportive documentary evidence and explanations i helped gather, successfully resulted in the release of over £94,000 back to the client’s account.
R v M (October 2023) – Following the drafting of a basis of plea at Bolton Crown Court I successfully assisted a caseworker in receiving a £700 fine for an Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm charge in a case involving multiple co-defendants.
