Peter Cunliffe becomes Bolton Law Society President

It is with great pleasure that we announce that Peter Cunliffe has become the Bolton Law Society President for 2020. He was installed at the society's AGM on Thursday 23 January and he will hold the post for 12 months. Peter said "It is a great honour and privilege to be appointed and serve as the society’s president in its 141st year. An honour not just as a practising solicitor in the town since September 1999 but also a life long Bolton resident. I follow in the footsteps and rather large ones at that of a number of legal luminaries from the firm in the dim and distant past and those still practising. I will seek to raise the profile where I can in the community of the great range of expert offerings member firms offer, particularly over the unregulated sectors that we compete against, so we can continue to provide high quality legal advice and assistance to our fellow townsfolk." Peter will liaise and meet with other local professional societies as well as working with the society's committee in providing training courses for members as well as social events and the annual dinner on Friday 24 April at the Bolton School Arts Centre. He has chosen Lagan's Foundation as his charity of the year and got off to a great start with over £220 raised at the quiz which followed the AGM.
